Gambaga College of Education SRC Welcomes Freshers (Miss Ijaari 2019 and Mr. Bachelor)

On Saturday, 23rd November 2019, the SRC of Gambaga College of Education in the North East Region of Ghana organized one of the remarkable event in the College SRC history known as “Miss Ijaari” to officially welcome the Freshers and to choose among them the most beautiful and well cultured lady and a well-deserved bachelor as well. This year’s newly admitted students are the first batch of students under UDS affiliation.  The College is part of the 10 Colleges of Education that are affiliated to the University for Development Studies.

The event took place at the College Assembly ground within the hours of 8:00pm to 11:00pm. The SRC General Secretary, Master Alariba Zakari Yahaya introduced the judges and officials from TTAG both Sector and National executives; Master Mohammed Abass – TTAG Financial Secretary, Master Abdulai Sifaidu – TTAG Attricons Sector President and Master Avokbilla Enoch – TTAG Attricons Sector Organizer.

The SRC Vice President of the College, Master Ahmed Ridwan in his welcome address admonished the Freshers to live a healthy life on campus. He also advised the freshers to take their studies seriously and remain focus on the reason for which they are in the College. In his concluding remarks, Master Ahmed Ridwan urged all trainees especially the freshers to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the College to avoid any sanctions from authorities.  

Master Abdulai Sifaidu, the TTAG Attricons Sector President in his speech applauded the Freshers for taking the bold step to join the teaching profession. He stated that “many were those who applied but few were offered admission to this noble profession and this great College as well. Study hard and make us proud”. He assured all trainees present that the Attricons Sector and the National Secretariat of TTAG will continue to seek the welfare of teacher trainees at all times. 

Five Fresh ladies competed for “Miss Ijaari” for 2019/2020 academic year. The programme ended successfully with all contestants picking awards. Miss Bugnab Hulda emerged as the Winner for this year’s event. Miss Zakari Salamatu emerged as the 1st Runner Up with Miss Hamidu Ramatu emerging as the 2nd Runner Up.

Four Freshmen also competed for “Mr. Bachelor”. By the end of the competition, Mr. Odartey Gyan Daniel emerged as “Mr. Bachelor” for the 2019/2020 academic year.
