“Let us uphold the motto of TTAG – A Model for Development” – Mr. Michael Kpeglah

The 25th Annual Delegates Congress of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) Volta Sector successfully came to an end as it was climaxed with a durbar on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Several dignitaries and former Executives of TTAG were present at the durbar.

Speaking at the durbar, the outgoing Sector President of the Association, Mr.  Michael Kpeglah made a passionate call to members of TTAG to uphold the motto of the association – a model for development.

The Sector President stated that “I wish to use this platform to advise all trainees here today to live lives worthy of emulation in this contemporary era. In this changing society where the rate of vulnerability to negative influences is very high. we should not forget that we are the greatest assets of the nation as we form the most active segment of the Ghanaian society. Relating to the relentless energy. dynamism, enthusiasm, and the exuberance we are endowed with. we form the major catalyst for the holistic development of the nation. We have a powerful tool that is worth using, and that tool is dialogue rather than resorting to illegal demonstrations, anonymous letters, and revolts which make us key vectors of violence, rioting, antisocial behaviors such as criminal acts, damaging of college properties, insubordination and all other malfeasances. We should try to uphold our motto – ‘A Model for Development’· and be reminded that TTAG – We mean Well and not War”.

The keynote speaker at the durbar, Mr. Attiah Lahari Saviour in his address noted “that crucial to nation-building is quality education and crucial to quality education is the interactive processes between a pupil and a teacher. This puts the teacher and for that matter the teacher trainee at the core of ensuring quality education hence nation-building. The upgrading of the teacher training colleges to tertiary status and rechristening them as Colleges of Education was therefore a move to produce the best, qualified teachers to drive education in the right direction”.

After the durbar, delegates took part in an election to elect a new crop of Executives for the new TTAG year. At the end of the elections, the following emerged as the newly elected Volta Sector Executives of TTAG; Dzahene Christian Kwame – Sector President, Kwaku Kodzo Courage – General Secretary, Ador Marvellous Kofi – Vice General Secretary, Azokpa Seyram Bless – Financial Secretary, Kumah Selorm Eric – Organizing Secretary, Mensah Richmond – Public Relations Manager and Wadjoly Sroda M.
