The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) General Elections takes the centre stage at the upcoming Extraordinary National Conference. This important event on the CETAG calendar is slated to take place between 25th and 26th March 2021 at Public Services Union Centre, TUC, Kumasi.
Highly-placed sources tip the Prince Obeng-Himah led team to be retained. This comes on the back of the National Council of the Association (the highest decision-making body of CETAG) declaring at its January 15, 2021 meeting to let this team continue with the good work begun.
They had contended that Book and Research allowances as well as Market Premium had remained evasive to CETAG members from 2004 when the Colleges went tertiary till the Prince Obeng-Himah led team strategically got it for CETAG members within the first year of their first term in 2019. Council, noting that the team had again started a fresh negotiation process to get CETAG members commensurate allowances deserving of teachers in tertiary institutions had opined that the team simply has to be retained to finish the unfinished business.
Checks by the News Desk of CoEWJ from the five Zones of CETAG clearly show that any contender who contests the Prince Obeng-Himah led team will be fighting a losing battle. However, two vacant positions that are up for grabs appear to be the hot spot. Those are the Trustee and the Financial Secretary positions.
