396 final year students of St. Francis College of Education resume for their exit exams

The last batch of the Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) trainee teachers who are currently in their final year returned to campus on 21st June, 2020, to prepare for their final year examinations. The students were initially undergoing their one year out program, before the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before their arrival, the College took adequate measures to put the school environment in a conducive atmosphere to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. The classrooms and halls were properly fumigated. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by the Government were readily made available. The Management of the College also made available additional customized nose masks and hand sanitizers as well. A total of 396 final year students are expected to write the final year examinations, 278 males and 116 females.

The College Principal, Mr. Raphael K. Kwashie in an earlier interaction with some stakeholders, indicated some precautionary measures the College had put in place to ensure the safety of the students during their stay on campus.  According to him, the 396 students would be spread among the two female and five male halls of residence. He added that teaching and learning would take place at the main auditorium which has a sitting capacity of 1500; hence adequate social distancing protocol would be adhered to. He explained further that provisions of Veronica buckets at the various halls of residence, the auditorium, and other hand washing stations have been made. Dining sessions were also arranged so that students would go in batches to avoid congestion, adding that, a COVID-19 ambassador was also appointed to ensure all COVID-19 health protocols are properly adhered to. The College is hopeful that, with all the necessary precautionary measures put in place, students would be safe to write their exit exams successfully.

In a related development, the College in its quest to strengthen the College’s security has provided new security attire for its security guards.  The security guards made up of nine males and a female were beautifully adorned in their new work apparel. Management admonished them to work harder to protect the College not only from miscreants but also ensure that everyone follows the COVID-19 protocols since it has also become a security issue. The security personnel were full of appreciation to Management for ensuring that uniforms, tools, and equipment needed for effective and efficient execution of their duties and responsibilities are always provided. On their part, they pledged to put in their best efforts.
